When I go out for breakfast, though, I typically have a meat and cheese omelette, but there are so many great choices it's hard to decide. I love a diner that serves hash&eggs, not all do. Several places have a "some of everything" platter, but there one needs to make hard choices: hash browns or home fries? Toast or biscuit and gravy? Pancakes or waffle? At least I don't have to include grits in the choices, having been raised up North, I can take them or leave them.

When I was a kid, I liked the Waffle House waffles. They were crispy. I don't know if that franchise even exists anymore.

had breakfast in 1 in ga when i went to pic up my pup. had sausage, eggs and grits, tho. figured when in the south….

i misspent a great deal of my youth in a big boy’s. their strawberry waffles was enough for 2 or 3 hungry ppl.
strawberry pie was da bomb, too.

In part for people watching reasons.

But in equal part, because their waffles and other entries are divine (and fairly cheap). I had some a couple of weeks ago, and it was as good as ever.

Here's Anthony Bourdain at a Waffle House, and everything that makes it great eating.

I used to work with a guy who spread jelly on his pancakes, rolled them up & ate them like that at his desk. Two every day. Red raspberry, apricot, or grape. For his birthday we gave him a can of Redi-whip.

I'm not much of a pancake fan and I hate crepes. Yeah, I know. I don't like the spongy textures.

First of all, I like both. But which I like best depends on the situation.

I absolutely love fresh Waffle House waffles.

And I am also a big fan of multigrain/whole grain/buckwheat pancakes. (Possibly the best were the ones served at DeLeon Springs State Park in Florida, although they recently switched vendors and I don't know whether or not they are still as good.)

Ordinary buttermilk pancakes and thicker Belgian Style waffles are okay, but not as good. Eggo frozen waffles are good in a pinch.

If I had to list it, it would probably go like:

Fresh whole grain pancakes>Waffle House Waffles>Belgian Waffles=Fresh Buttermilk Pancakes=French toast>Frozen waffles>Frozen pancakes

All are acceptable. I think breakfast is my favorite of the meals.
