Who was in your parents' album collection?

Mine were absolutely perfect for describing who my folks were, except for one.

Glenn Miller

Elvis Presley (both gospel and King Creole)

Andy Griffith "What it Was Was Football"

Tennessee Ernie Ford

The Kingston Trio (the outliers)

Later,my father went on a CW tear but that was duringmy adolescence and I quit paying attention.

Now on the plus side, there were the Carpenters, Simon & Garfunkel, and a few other albums I really liked. But Marie Osmond? We used to have to WATCH the Donny & Marie show - E-FUCKING-GADS!

"I'm a little bit rock and roll..."

We used to watch too, my younger sisters loved that show.

It could be funny when they poked fun at themselves, like the "Do It Yourself Be An Osmond Kit."
Came complete with "Osmo-chops" dentures, twice as many teeth as normal.

My Mom love Sinatra, but then went nuts over.... Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass. They both liked New Orlean's own Pete Fountain and Al Hirt and of course Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald.

My Dad LOVED Big Band music, including Glenn Miller and the like. Later on he listened to nothing but C&W--especially Chet Atkins , but shocked me when he latched on to Bob Seger.

My Mom love the Beatles. She loved John Denver Go figure.

All late 60s early 70s stuff (they married in '69). But the thing that brought them together was their mutual love of Joe and Eddie.

My mom never had any albums, but she watched Lawrence Welk, Tom Jones, Liberace, Sonny and Cher, Dean Martin, Porter Wagoner, Buck Owens/Roy Clark, as well as music specials like Petula Clark, Herb Alpert, and Mickey Finn.

My grandparents watched Sing Along with Mitch:

"Let's all sing like the birdies sing
Tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet,
Let's all sing like the birdies sing
Tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet,
Let's all warble like nightingales
Give your throats a treat
Get your lines from the birds
Now you all know the words
Tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet"
