Got a shutout at my hockey game tonight

I haven't mentioned this here, but I am a men's league ice hockey goalie. I got a shutout tonight at our game. Score ended up being 5-0. I needed that as I have been working almost 24/7 for the last few weeks at the office and on a freelance project.

No one has to say anything, it was just a good day.

7. From The Philly Area

Been on the ice since '72-73 season. Dad took me out at the height of the Broad Street Bullies era. Been in net since 73-74 season. Was a lazy skater and the goalies back in that day didn't have to do the skating drills. The first organized team I played on celebrated their 50th season last year (and I'm pretty sure I was one of their inaugural players). They had a panel on the rink I play men's league in and it made me feel real old.

Grew up playing hockey in the Philly area. Never played with the top tier travel team but did notch a win against Mike Richter back in the day (before he went off to college). Played at Penn State for their club team in the late 80s. The bus driver from Slap Shot took us on a couple of road trips my freshman year; he was not a great diver unless you think driving a bus and passing cars on 2-lane highways in northern PA is acceptable. Played with one guy who actually was in the Slap Shot movie (he was a kid).

Been a good ride. Hoping your hobby has taken you on some nice life adventures.

8. It has for sure

I have had the good fortune of training with Craig Anderson for six summers and playing at the newly revamped Maple Leaf Gardens, United Center in Chicago and Nationwide Arena in Columbus. A good ride for sure! Our season is starting out good. Got another win this past Wednesday. .

I have family in Philly, so I do get out there once in a while! Love it!

Just got another win tonight. We are 3-2 for the season so far, and I am definitely liking how the team is playing. Tonight's game we won 4-2. We are in 5th place out of 16 teams right now!

10. And tonight we won in a shootout

We were down 4-5 in the third period and with one minute left, and my team pulled me. They scored with 12 seconds left to even it up 5-5, so I went back out on the ice. We almost scored again a breakaway in those 12 seconds, but it didn't happen. So down the shootout. It's three rounds in our league. I stopped the first one and the other goalie gave one up. I gave one up in the second round and the other goalie stopped his. I stopped my last one and the other goalie gave his last one up. Whew! Nice win! It was a nail biter the whole time, but I just had a weird feeling even before the game that we would pull this off. And we did. Good night!
