6. Not sure what the technique was used here, or if it's a living camel.

If it is a carved wooden camel, or a painting done on a living camel, then I agree, it's beautiful work.

But if it's a carving on a living camel then I think it's terrible.

I don't know anything about camels but would think they need all their hide to protect them from hot sun.
Layers of hide look to be removed.

Just the hair is clipped, probably with some very small blades. I've seen horses done with checkerboards, and so forth, but the detail shown here is just amazing.

11. Notice that the men keep their own skin and heads covered, and don't design their beards into art :)

As you mentioned, poor camels lost their 'long hair' insulating protection from the sun
