(29,459 posts)although I have been known to pilfer a peanut butter cup or two around Halloween.
I have one of these most days as a snack:

Technically not a candy bar, but its a good alternative IMO.

(1,353 posts)But the best ever was the Mars bar. My husband gave up candy bars, except occasionally splitting a Snickers, when they were taken off the US market. Later in life he accepted Hersey's chocolates.
Much to my surprise I like Reece's pieces but not near as much as that old Mars Bar.

(1,353 posts)We didn't shop at Walmart and I don't buy candy at Amazon. He died last year.
The American version of the Mars candy bar was discontinued in 2002, before returning to production in 2010 as an initially Walmart exclusive product, only to be discontinued in 2011. However, the American version of Mars went into production again as of September 2017 by Ethel M Chocolates, a gourmet chocolate subsidiary of Mars, Inc. Ethel M Chocolates is selling the original version of the American Mars through both its stores in the United States, as well as Amazon.

(59,746 posts)All have to do with white chocolate, two from Belgium, and one from Spain.
1. Blanc-café by Café-Tasse in Brussels
A bar of white chocolate with finely ground coffee running through it.
2. #8 by Wittamer (since discontinued), also in Brussels
White chocolate mixed with concentrated raspberry juice
They stopped making this#. I got the last 4 bars out of their Brussels store on the Sablon/Zavel, and brought them to my sister last summer.
3. Xocolata blanca amb fruta de passiò by Vicens in Barcelona
White chocolate with ground dried passion fruit sprinkled on top before drying
Since the bar by Wittamer is no longer in production, a decent substitute is the pink blackberry-raspberry white (now pink) chocolate bark made by Läderach in Switzerland. They now have a shop in the USA, so you can order from them online, but the Swiss franc being what it is, that stuff is EXPENSIVE, and addicting as well.

(18,404 posts)... but most stores don't carry six packs of that kind. Regular in that case.
Second would be Hershey's with almonds, third would be Reese's.
Clark Bars are great, too, but try finding them in the US.

(18,404 posts)It was a peanut butter candy bar, and the shtick was that Peanut Butter had made it to the big time, but his g/f Jelly hadn't, so he made them name the candy bar after her.
The 70s were weird.

(25,942 posts)I also love the dark chocolate one with raspberry bits, and those with almonds.
Or Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter cups, or their dark chocolate coated almonds! They were a surprise after eating WX Reese's milk choc ones for decades. I prefer dark choc.
Butterfingers - though years ago the center core would be uneatable! Got solid. 😐
And Mounds.
