When the moon is in the 7th house,

...... Until my big sister heard us (we were passengers while she, at 16 years old, was driving us around and the song came on). She said What the hell are you guys singing???? Then she set the record straight!

of the lyrics is quite mushy, and my mind hears something other than the actual words. Even after I know what the correct lyrics are, my brain still often thinks of my misinterpretations.

(29,510 posts)From the Arizona desert
To the Salisbury Plain
Lights on the horizon
Patterns on the grain
Anxious eyes turned upward
Clutching souvenirs
Carrying our highest hopes and our darkest fears
They swear there was an accident back in '47
Little man with a great big head
Splattered down from heaven
Government conspiracy; cover-ups and lies
Hidden in the desert under endless skies
Well, it's a cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold
Post, postmodern world
No time for heroes, no place for good guys
No room for Rocky The Flying Squirrel
They're not here, they're not coming
Not in a million years
Turn your weary eyes back homeward
Stop your trembling, dry your tears
You may see the heavens flashing
You may hear the cosmos humming
But I promise you, my brother
They're not here, they're not coming
Would they pile into the saucer
Find Orlando's rat and hug it?
Go screaming through the universe
Just to get McNuggets?
Well, I don't think so, I don't think so
It's much too dangerous, it's much too strange
Here in a world that won't give Oprah no home on the range
Well, it's a cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold
Post, postmodern world
No authenticity, no sign of soul
The radio won't play George and Merle
They're not here, they're not coming
Not in a million years
'Til we put away our hatred
'Til we lay aside our fears
You may see the heavens flashing
You may hear the cosmos humming
But I promise you, my sister
They're not here, they're not coming
To this garden we were given
And always took for granted
It's like my daddy told me, "You just bloom where you're planted."
Now you long to be delivered
From this world of pain and strife
That's a sorry substitution for a spiritual life
Well, it's a cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold
Post, postmodern world
No place for sentiment, no room for romance
Bring back the Duke of Earl
They're not here, they're not coming
Not in a million years
Turn your hopes back homeward
Hold your children, dry their tears
You may see the heavens flashing
You may hear the cosmos humming
But I promise you, my brother
They're not here, they're not coming
They're not here, they're not coming
Not in a million years
'Til we put away our hatred
And lay aside our fears
You may see the heavens flashing

Concentration moon
Over the camp in the valley
Concentration moon
Wis I was back in the alley
With all of my friends,
Still running free:
Hair growing out
Every hole in me
American way
How did it start?
Thousands of creeps
Killed in the park
American way
Try and explain
Scab of a nation
Driven insane
Don't cry
Gotta go bye bye
Suddenly: die die
Cop kill a creep!
Pow pow pow
Concentration moon
Over the camp in the valley
Concentration moon
Wish I was back in the alley
With all of my friends,
Still running free:
Hair growing out
Every hole in me
American way
Threatened by us
Drag a few creeps
Away in a bus
American way
Prisoner: lock
Smash every creep
In the face with a rock
Don't cry
Gotta go bye bye
Suddenly: die die
Cop kill a creep!
Pow pow pow

Hey baby, where do you, comin' from
Boy she looked at me and smiled,
And looked into space
And she said, 'i'm comin' from the land of new rising sun'
And I said, 'hey, baby where you tryin' to go to'
Then she says, 'i'm gonna spread around peace of mind
And a whole lotta love to you and you'
Hey girl I'd like to come along
Yes, I'd love to come along
'Would you like to come along? '
She asked me
'Yes take me along right now.'
Hey baby, can I step into your world a while?
'Yes you can' she said
'Come on back with me for a while
We're gonna go across the jupiter sun
And see all your people on by one
You gotta help your people out right now
That's what I'm doin' it all about'
'Yeah yeah, may I come along?
May I come along?
May I come along?
Yeah yeah
Please take me'

(24,937 posts)Telstar 1 is a defunct communications satellite launched by NASA on July 10, 1962. It was the satellite that allowed the first live broadcast of television images between the United States and Europe. Telstar 1 remained active for only 7 months before it prematurely failed due to Starfish Prime, a high-altitude nuclear test conducted by the United States. Although the satellite is no longer operational, it remains in Earth orbit.
