(47,675 posts)I went from 175 to 122 just by going with the minimal portions thing. You don't feel full at first, but give it half an hour and at least I do. That took a lot more than a week of time, but I'm back in the clothes I wore before I gained the weight. I'm back up in the 130-135 range (my healthy weight) and my blood pressure has normalized (down from the dangerously high levels). The real key is to only eat what you need, not what you want and not until you can't eat anymore. If you need to snack, get some dulse (any health food store should have it). It tastes salty but is curiously very low in sodium but high in minerals and it satisfies the need to munch. Speaking of sodium, keep that at a minimum - it makes you retain water. Try paprika, black pepper, hot sauce, and other things for seasoning.

(26,117 posts)It's for heart patients who need to lose quickly, then switch to a health maintenence plan.
I've done it in the past, successfully - but I was in my 20s-30s (before my metabolism slowed to a snails pace). LOL

(41,694 posts)It involved eating raw oysters-some of which were bad.
No thanks not that desparate yet!

(40 posts)that I gave up pop. If you don't drink pop, that won't help.
I have several friend that lost 10 or more by juicing for a week. If you have a juicer, do just fruits and veggies (lots of veggies) for a week. It will suck and you may get some flu like symptoms from detoxing. You could also try a colon cleanse. Go to the health food store and they can help you with that. It involves drinking a salt water type beverage. (WARNING: only do this if you can be home for a while and no where far from a toilet!)
Otherwise, whole fruits and veggies only. Lots of water. Tip: drinking ice water can make you burn up to 100 calories more a day, because the body has to use energy to heat it up to body temperature for use.

(31,402 posts)If your clothes don't fit (which is why you need to lose weight)
then take a trip to an upscale consignment store and outfit yourself
that way.
I'm a fan of TLC's What Not to Wear--check your local schedule for
times. They usually show repeats at noon here. It will give you
ideas for color/style to help present yourself 'dressed' for success.
Good luck on the interviews!

(95,337 posts)Not a highly recommended diet though.
Basically the bug i got is the reason why employees at restaurants need to wash their hands after using the restroom.

(1,675 posts)Oh GRoss. I got food poisoning once and I would never want to think about that again! I think in the 1700's in France they used to swallow tape worms-but then they had tape worms....
LOL!

(2,812 posts)for instance, if you are eating 2000 Cal/day and your weight is stable,
then by not eating and burning an additional 1500 Calories (walk 10 - 15 miles) you will burn a pound of fat in that one day.
Any other weight loss is water loss (which does go along with fat burning).
Water weight loss is easily gained back. Water weights 8 lbs/gallon and we have a lot of water in us.
you should NOT cut intake to zero.
A pound a week is reasonable.
If you lose more than that, you will gain it back quickly.
I am with the person that says dress well for your existing weight.

(38,326 posts)You'll feel better, and the interviews will go better.
My "rapid weight loss plans" always involved major illnesses or madness.
Pneumonia works, wandering around the desert and not eating works, so do marathon coding sessions...
But the end results are not good.

(11,411 posts)Especially without feeling horrible for the interviews.
As others have suggested, dress better. Buy some clothes that fit well if you don't have any that do that are appropriate for the interviews.
The most I lost in a week was 18 lbs after giving birth, but I am assuming that you aren't in that situation.
