(10,047 posts)Good post...Thank you!
We are currently watching The Flight Attendant Murders on AMC+.
It's four episodes about a seriel killer in TX in the late 70's and early 80's. The victims were all flight attendants with the airline Braniff. We're about mid-way through the third episode.

I'm a MAJOR "Lostie".
I've seen the entire series six times! I get something new out of it every time I watch.
I saw the last season with a friend (we weren't at the same location but we'd watch the same episodes at the same time and then have really cool conversations). It was during COVID.
Lost is really about "The Heros Journey." The concept of Archetypes (think Carolyn Myss and Joseph Campbell) fascinate me. It's in my top 10 of favorite shows of all time.

(23,595 posts)2 & 3 she convinced me to get the DVDs and catch up. Then I would watch it on Central Time and wait for her to watch it on Mountain TIme. She would call me when it was over out there and we would discuss it.
Back then it was on ABC, not streamed. It was a strange show. My mother would have loved it.
Who here remembers the weekly LOST thread? It was full of theories, explanations, projections and so on as one would expect. However the best part were the outrageous nicknames DUers gave to the various characters.

(10,047 posts)That sounds great!
I didn't watch Lost in real time. I think it would've been a drag to have to wait each week for a new episode and then wait over the summer for the next season.
I'm glad I was able to binge it.

I have watched so many British crime shows in the last two years, I have started driving on the wrong side of the road. They have some good stuff.

(10,047 posts)How's The Last Detective? I love the British detective shows. It seems like something I'd like. what say you?
Chainfire
(17,757 posts)They call the main character Dangerous, because that is the last thing that he is. The title comes from him being the "last detective" that anyone would send on an important investigation. Yet, somehow he ends up solving crimes. The program is not as graphic or violent as some of the shows and some might find it a little sleepy, but I liked it and watched all of the seasons.

(17,757 posts)American actors all have teeth chisled out of the purest ivory and look like they were aligned by an engineer; the best money can buy. The Brits also use much less makeup on men and women. Women who are playing a 51 year old role, don't try to look like they just turned 19. I also like watching police that are not armed. (we could use more of that) I find it interesting that across several dramas, cops are nearly all broken in one way or another; a good coppper just can't keep a good woman... (There are exceptions to prove the rule) Shocking to my bible belt roots is the lack of drama about extramaritial affairs; a common theme is that, "Well, it happens doen't it." Many times the cuckholed man will remain mates with his wife's lover. Over here we just kill them both.
I am ready to retire to a British village and spend the rest of my life in the local pub exchanging gossip and other lies. Of course that means I would need to start drinking, but nothing of value comes without sacrifice.

(10,278 posts)But I will be streaming the second season of 'Loki' and I plan to re-watch 'Moon Knight' again real soon. (He is one of my favorite Marvel characters of all time.)
I also have a few series that I have and I watch at least once a year. Ken Burns 'The Civil War' is a great one. Charles Kuralt's 'The Revolutionary War' is a masterpiece as far as I am concerned. As always, I watch Bravo's '100 Scariest Movie Moments' every Halloween. (I disagree with the top five... but that's another story for another time.)
I would mention the various Star Treks, but I would suspect you all could figure that one out already.

I think it is maybe $5 to $10 to subscribe, but I don't know since we piggyback it as one of the perks of being a station member.

(23,595 posts)We decided to drop Acorn for a while and have been busy the past few weeks trying to catch the new seasons of our favorites as well as watch a few that we 'always intended to watch'
Foyle's War is one of those intended to watch series. It is very good and really reflects England during the War. Good cast and well developed characters.
We have had Britbox for about a year and have so much to watch! Eventually we will end up switching back and forth between the two.

(8,901 posts)on Netflix. Brilliant and hysterically funny. After watching the fourth episode last night about Monty Python and the Holy Grail, will take a break tonight to stream the movie, which Ive never seen(!). Then finish the last two episodes.
The first episode was a trip down memory lane for me with discussions of some irreverent comedy groups and shows that preceded them, including Beyond the Fringe and David Frosts That Was the Week that Was weekly TV show.
