Another summer in Maine, 7-13-24.

The grass continues to grow, like it's May. Raining almost every day, after 6 hours of bright humid conditions. Have watered my garden 4 times this summer.

45 minutes after the photo, it rained for 45 minutes. Soaking rain. Seen the worst rainstorm I've every driven through, earlier this week. 25 miles of solid water. Felt like I was in a submarine.

I see that storm forming out over the lake.

The deluge stuff is a lot of work getting through. It's like trying to drive while in the wash cycle in the car wash.

I was laughing at the absurdity of the water dump. Happy that I was driving the Ram at 50 and had all 4 feet on the ground.

On edit- That cloud system passed me (SEasterly) with no rain. The rain came from the west and it was the light wall from the sunset that made it look benign....I knew better.

Super high heat, especially for here, and smoke. The nearby mountains are fainter every day, eventually you might be able to see an outline.

I am thankful for my AC, not a fan of it but, my place would be uninhabitable after 80F. It's been getting hotter than 97F each day. I am so glad we put the garden in an afternoon shady spot. everything would be burnt to a crisp otherwise. Some cooler air is alleged to be headed this way, should arrive sometime tomorrow. I don't know that we'll be out of the smoke for some time... this usually goes on into September/October.

At least I can turn off the AC after the sun goes behind the mountains. It's still 87F outside though. I'll open the windows after the temp outside is the same as the inside.

The yard looks really nice, Skippa has it so good, I hope he knows it!

I had to do. It's just too hot here any more. I remember when, back in the 1970s and 80s, out here a heat wave was when it was over 80F for several days.

I certainly hope that the bonfire is already started by the time that I get there!

I have some foldable chairs that I can bring.
