This is weird. I was invited to a party yesterday (which was lovely, thank you for inviting me) and I'm invited to a party on New Year's Day, but nothing tonight. It's fine with me, though - think I'll order a pizza, snuggle up with the kitty, and make tonight Quentin Tarantino Night on television. I now have every film he made on Blu-Ray (including Death Proof), so my 5.1 speaker system should have a little fun with that.
Anyway, what are your plans? Quiet or raucous, it matters not - please share.

(30,252 posts)I don't have internet access at home partially because kitty would not approve of me being on the laptop 24/7 - have to give myself a break now and then.

(30,947 posts)I can never stay awake anyway to see the New Year in. I live in the Atlanta area and the giant peach drops at midnight and I have never once been able to stay awake to watch it.

(10,170 posts)Nice group of folks up there. I've been to meeting with that bunch a while back. Had more F(f)riends in the FW meeting.
I'm still officially on the books in Austin, but have been sojourning with the Sikhs lately.
Who know, maybe I'll see you at yearly sometime? PM me if you need anything Quakerwise.
About to catch an afternoon snooze to recover from the teens.
It's all good!

(20,234 posts)We were invited to a last minute party tonight and declined, though I'm sure we'd have enjoyed ourselves there. We're hunkered down with a fire, a simple but nice dinner in the oven, christmas tree lights are on, and we're watching 1950s sci-fi movies.
Some of the old 50s flicks are still unsurpassed, including that version of The War of the Worlds where George Pal was in charge of the visual effects.

(24,146 posts)a friend of mine invited my husband and i to a small party. i'm not sure how long we'll stay there, but we might go to my dad's house afterwards and have a pajama party with my sister, during which we will be coerced into playing settlers of katan.
i don't like crazy parties much anymore and i'm ready for bed after a couple drinks. i'm mellowing with age.

(441 posts)Favorite way to spend New Year's Eve. Don't like the idea of being out on the road with all the drinking crazies.
Happy New Year to All. (Though it is not yet here, on the Left Coast.)

We ran errands all day, and then when we go home he made dinner and we watched New Year's Rockin Eve all night. I didn't even have a drop of alcohol and I had the best time!
