THANK YOU DU!!

I'm usually pretty strong about serious issues but the prospect of losing my baby sister, since I only have the two younger left out of four, was a bit much for me right now. Since I'm more than 3,000 miles away now it's hard to feel anything but helpless.

So...

My sister was in surgery for 15 hours, came out around 11pm Pacific Time, all vitals were good and she was responding to whatever prompts they were using. According to docs, as told by the other sister, they were able to free the artery and all other parts looked good but they were watching to see how her optic nerve is doing. Apparently her eyes were, initially, responding to light, etc..

It was around 2am Eastern when I got the text, will talk to the other sister later in the day for more details.

Once again, thank you all, DU always comes through! Helped me keep my shit together all day!

I know the helpless feeling you can have when you're a good distance away from a family issue. As one of 4 siblings, who have always been close, (except when my older brother teased me endlessly when we were kids) we always try to be there for each other, but not always possible.

My brother is going in for a heart ablation in Oct, and while I wish I could be with him, he has a wonderful family close by.
