What's your test for checking ripeness? True Dough Sep 2025 #15
Sure...I gently press my thumb into it. If it gently gives then it's alost alway ripe electric_blue68 Sep 2025 #16

I really love it; and in the supermarket very gently testing the avocados for a just ripened one, if I wanted to make it that evening.

The only thing I'd do differently is use a little bit of milder chilli powder. Even jalapeños are often too hot for me.

It it gives too much it might be over ripe.
Hassle Avocados should be dark green, if they're nearly black they might be
over ripe.

From Google, didn't know. Another test
Use the Stem Trick
Gently try to flick off the small stem cap on the top of the avocado.
If the stem comes off easily and reveals a bright green color underneath, the avocado is perfectly ripe.
If there is resistance or the color is brown, the avocado is not yet ripe or is overripe.
