Friends of SCE, there is an update from his family.
I've been given permission to share this message.
Bob is in the hospital and has taken a turn for the worst and family are making arrangements for hospice care through the hospital.. Bob underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor but unfortunately he has stage 4 lung cancer.
He's being well looked after and is surrounded by his loving family and good medical care.
Please keep his family in your prayers. This is devastating news.

Sundays haven't been the same without him. Thank goodness he is surrounded by a loving family and the caring thoughts of his DU family.
SCE has brought so much joy to us here on DU on Sunday mornings for so many years.
Please tell his family that we send them our love in this difficult time, and we wish a peaceful and easy passing for SCE.
We were all hoping for the best. I, along with so many others, looked forward to his posts everyday week.
Just from his Sunday posts, I think he was a kind and caring person and I will miss him. Love and peace to SCE, his family and friends.
Please let him know that he's touched my life with his gifts.
Please let him know how important he was to us in his humor, his light, and his joyful gifts that he offered us so freely.
As you all celebrate Bob's life, please let him know that the metaphysical waiting line for all of us to pay him respect is literally miles long.
May his passing come with the same peace that he brought to so many.

I want to say for many years my Sundays were not complete until I saw SCE's post on DU. His legacy will be remembered.
My son and husband both died of cancer. I know what the family is going through. May SCE and his family find peace. Sending loving thoughts. ❤️

We all looked forward to Sundays thanks to his dedication to making life a bit more fun for DUers. There were times when it must have been difficult to see humor anywhere, but he did it anyway. For us. May he and his family know peace in the coming days and weeks.

SCE has brought us so much delight, week after week, year after year, until this health stuff. It seems so wrong for it to happen to him who deserves the same happiness he has given us.

You will never know how much joy, laughter and comfort you have brought to me over the years. You have been the highlight of my week, every single week.
Sunday was set aside - no news allowed.
The one thing that was allowed was Lolcats.
With those wonderful posts, you washed away the bad news, the anger, the sadness that the week brought to us.
In its place you gave us silly animals, funny cartoons, things to ponder and try to figure out, which I was sometimes able to do.
Once in a great while, I was the first to post. That was quite the achievement, beating out everybody else to get there first. It helped that I have horrible insomnia and was usually up when you posted Lolcats.
It hasn't been the same here without you. And sadly, now we know that you won't be coming back. It will never be the same without you here. But I can promise you that you are going to live on in all of our hearts and in our memories. You made this a better place. And if you made DU a better place, I can only imagine what you did out there in the world.
Best screen name ever. No one will ever come close.
I'm hoping that somehow, your family and friends have the time to read all of these posts to you, to let you know how much we love you.
I have no idea of where we go next when we leave this world. If there is a next place, you are guaranteed entrance. If there is a next place, may you be surrounded by even more of what you gave to us - joy, laughter and comfort. And love. You gave us all love.
