(26,073 posts)That's the most important thing, that they don't suffer.
When we lost all 3 of our doggies starting from late last year to roughly March or so this year, it was hard for all of us, even though they were 16+ years in age. It's still never easy to lose a companion, ever.
We're still getting over the losses, even tho it's been a year or so. We still grieve. I talk out and/or sing out loud to my doggies even when they are all gone. Over the last year or so, we even had some people talk to us about adopting a dog that they know of, but it's still too early for us. We still have our doggie beds all over the house, we just don't have the desire to pick up their unused beds.
I know that some of this behavior is iffy, strange, questionable, but hey, this is how we are grieving, and it does, believe it or not, help.
Best wishes to Bently and his family.

Maybe the reason I love animals so much,
is because the only time they have broken my heart
is when theirs has stopped beating. 🐾
