(656 posts)My bestie at work liked mixed nuts, but cashews not so much.
If she got mixed nuts, she dutifully pulled out the cashews and gave them to me.
Best regards,

But what I've been doing lately is adding unsalted mixed nuts to unsalted organic peanut butter and spinning it up in a food processor with cacao powder, ginger, garam masala, and fennel seed. That is a morning guilty pleasure, with fresh fruit on whole grain toast with a cup of coffee.

(77,029 posts)Surprisingly available cashews in the mix, nearly nothing pecan *pieces*. But the mixed nuts are a staple for different meal venues - cereal flakes, frozen pancakes, both with added sprinkles of dried craisins and non-fat milk (lesson from Hippies, "Milk fat is the WORST fat!" ) . But the all knowing internet says that cashews are BAD! Two Brazils at 3 P.M. for Lucky the dog - and he KNOWS the time - of whom more in another thread. Other lesson from Hippies at the end, this one *not* complied with, "Don't eat fried food!"

(28,641 posts)I recently bought a jar of chili-lime seasoned peanuts from HomeGoods by a company called Belmont. Really tasty. I lucked into a second jar when I went back, which surprised me, because things are always hit-or-miss at places like HomeGoods -you can get something once, and then never see it again. Turns out you can order from Belmont's website, which I plan to do They have lots of different flavors, some of which sound quite appealing.

Maybe some of you remember those?

No cashews for you!
I buy canned cashews for Asian cooking, we're so into them.
My actual favorites are macadamia, Brazil, & pistachio nuts, but those are seldom in mixed nuts.

(9,289 posts)(and I do too) I should probably tell you that they are less related to nuts like almonds, walnuts, and the other mixed nuts than they are to poison ivy. Yes, they are in the poison ivy family. But don't panic. The rash-inducing oil never gets inside their shells (which is why you never see them sold in the shell, as you may do with other "tree nuts."
People who are allergic to tree nuts can often tolerate cashews and pistachios.
Peanuts are not related to any of them. Peanuts are a bean, like lentils, kidney beans, navy beans, et cetera. People can be allergic to peanuts (as I am) and still tolerate all the tree nuts and cashews and pistachios. (If you are allergic to peanuts and crave peanut butter, the closest substitute is sunflower butter.)
I'm sure that's far more than you wanted to know. 🤣
