(12,594 posts)And Butterfinger. As a kid, I was never a fan of peanuts or peanut butter. Anything that was crispy and contained peanut butter or peanuts was right out. Clark Bars, which were manufactured in Pittsburgh, were always given out at Halloween. They all went to my parents.

(25,156 posts)There was a forest of cigarette butts mashed out in the peanut butter. Disgusting.
But I loved popcorn balls. There was a lady in my neighborhood that made them herself and handed them out on Halloween. I loved them.

(2,152 posts)My mother loved it. I'm sure she took every pack of candy corn I got. With my blessing!
I'd bring my Halloween candy home and dump it out and my mother would go through it, throwing out anything that wasn't wrapped and gum (I wasn't allowed to chew gum). Then I'd go back out to hit the next streets. This was baby boomer generation; EVERY house had their porch light on because they all had kids and we made out like bandits!

(904 posts)They're thin, about the size of a quarter in diameter, on a paper stick in plastic. The kind you see them give away at kid's doctor's offices. They don't taste bad, exactly; they don't taste much like anything. The red ones were usually okay; the green ones tasted like lime. The lollipops would be leftover long after all the other candy was gone.

(22,639 posts)I think when he finished trick or treating he took over for his mom in dispensing treats. He put his hand in my bag when he put the rock in. It was the last house and I knew what was in my bag, so there was no doubt when I saw the rock that it was from him. Plus he was laughing. I probably wasn't the only one who got a rock.

(14,230 posts)...an impenetrable, sticky mess that cemented itself to your teeth, and when you finally broke through it, all you had was a dang apple.
Wax lips: Those were fun for about 5 seconds. After that? Inedible
Little boxes of raisins: I'm after candy, not fruit!
Gumdrops: Weird texture with a vaguely medicinal taste
Good & Plenty: I just can't hang with anything licorice
Necco wafers: Chalk dust and a little sugar formed into disks that looked like pastel Alka Seltzer
