The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI'm planning a small New Year's Eve grocery trip tomorrow. NYE will be just myself, no family or friends nearby..
I am used to celebrating this way as I never got married and family are all gone excepting for one sister and we don't talk...I have a couple friends I will be texting and I'm good...I hope all your preparations are going well and New Years will be a good one....I usually just watch a couple of movies like the classic "Meet John Doe" and others. My NYE tradition of starting the year at a low point will continue by my walking ten feet out the front of my apt. and stepping off the curb into the gutter, listening to fireworks and gunshots (in my very red area)...Back in my younger party days I sometimes had a whole crew of folks feeling good from the celebration join me, now it's me...fun days...

(8,942 posts)By midnight anyway, so enjoy your evening. Hell be in bed by 9:30 so I get a few hours to myself. Like living single when me the night owl marries a morning person. Lol Happy New Year!

Daughter and SIL dropped by yesterday and today for Christmas, New Years, a couple of birthdays, all in one visit... whatever works!
Celebrate when, and because you're happy, not when others say to.
Do some hobby recreation. I want to spend more time with piano, sorting out my best photos. Make prints? Why not?
Enjoy classical (or rock) music. Good for the soul.
One NYE, my ex had a few, and is of the zero tolerance genetic makeup. Daughter and I had to pick her up off the floor.
It's not about the booze, believe me.
My Dad liked big bands and had to have his Guy Lombardo Auld Lang Syne. I can think of worse. No need to forget old acquaintances. They forgot me!!
Make new ones. I will at 77.
