I had a good start to the New Year with a new year’s wish (a reply to one I sent) from my oncologist, one of the few people (like my main academic mentor, my best friend from grad school and my ex) whom I pay attention to and who moderates my more self-destructive impulses ;-/. He doesn’t know it. But he is a good influence somehow.

He is awesome. He works harder than anyone I know, but somehow it isn’t a subtle finger-wag or condemnation of all other humans. That shit puts people off work. Whereas this is a definite overt passive-aggressive finger-wag at finger-waggers. Nothing subtle ;-/.

And he a family man and yet so humble and sweet.

I plan to go work in his honor. All work and no play makes Jill a dull girl ;-/.
