I, who am Democratic and *not* a "royalist" note the passing of "princess" Irene of Greece.

Yeah, for some reason there's lots of "royalty" sentiment at this Democratic board. It's really about *celebrity* ain't it? Goes back to ancient days when the kings were annointed by best looks, and Saul was the best looking? Then peeps caught on that looks don't equate to best performance.

So all things don't go away, there are things going on that always happened before. But so we daily hear and follow the "royalty" of the Brits, but in the inner corridors of foofieness, there are supposed rankings and cache, and there are other supposed prestigious better-than-youse-and-moi, other "royalties."

So Irene of Greece passed in Spain. Sister of "Queen" Sofia of Spain/Greece. Inseparable sisters. YouTube enlightens. Why has Queen(mother) Sofia been so disrespected by her commoner daughter-in-law Leticia who was a mere journalist, now known to have a scandolous past (have we all?). And Juan Carlos former "king" of Spain, her supposed spouse, now abdicated and housing in some oil place (may KRASNOV join him), had *THOUSANDS" of infidelities in his spouse's face with untold wastrel-ing of riches and shame and slaughtering of endangered animals, finally sealing his abdication.

But why did "queen" Sofia of Greece put up with the lifelong humiliation? Well, it's a long story. Turns out that her parents, Paul of Greece and Federica of Hanover (tough lady) had an arrangement - him Gay and her leave-me-alone. So Sofia knew how to adjust. But their family history is another layer - overthrown, refugees in South Africa, her performing humanitarian nursing labor or something, until she found a safehold as a "monarch" her due. So she survived/adjusted.

And the recently deceased sister Irene of Greece, lifelong survivalist, the two of them clinging, has passed. Meanwhile, in recent years, the current "royalies" have, for who-knows-why have humiliated Queen Sofia, her commoner daughter-in-law Leticia the journalist stopping photos with the granddaughters, with one of them swatting Sofia's embrace away in a vast public Easter photo op.
