Why the heck would someone be ignoring me?

I just went to check my transparency page out of curiosity. It says 1 star member is ignoring me and 1 star member is blocking my emails. Hmmm, I don't remember offending anyone, and I've only sent maybe 3 PM's (all supportive) since I've been here. Why would someone be ignoring me and blocking my email?

Years ago I offended several DUers but they're mostly gone from DU now.
Most days I think twice, post once. I rarely PM anyone.

Just because.

11. Some people block messages
Sat Dec 8, 2012, 11:35 AM
Dec 2012

because they aren't sure if they really want to ignore someone so they'll block the messages and then keep an eye on posts to see if they think the poster deserves the full ignore.

Others do that to stalk a member. If you block emails you can go and look up the posters latest message or check the transparency page (if available). This borders on creepy but there are all kinds of people, including some creeps around.

I've got six star members that have been ignoring me pretty much since the start of DU3 but no one since then. Either I've become too nice a guy or some people are just a tad touchy.

You were at the top of my list

When you put someone on ignore, you select a DUer, and then are shown two boxes. The one on the left allows one to only block DU mail, while the one on the right is "Full Ignore" (posts and e-mail). I think sometimes, in their haste to put a poster with whom they are annoyed on ignore, people click the wrong box.

Anyway, I have 11 DUers ignoring me, so for you to only have one poster (most likely me) ignoring you is an admirable record.

I don't get it, myself. I don't ignore anyone, that's just not something that I would do, no matter what.

All I can say is that person who's ignoring you is just missing out of all of the love.

ignoring and blocking. I don't PM, although I reply when I get one. I think they just add that on there when they "ignore."

I'm surprised it's not more, since I am no partisan and don't hide my disagreements with corporate/dlc/3rd way/"new" dems and their supporters.

Especially when it comes to the blatant abuse of public education and teachers, of which I am one.

I used to be a moderate, even here a decade ago. Now, without having changed my positions at all, I'm too far left for the site. That says something about the evolution of the Democratic Party, at least to me.

I don't "ignore" anyone; if I want to ignore them, I just don't read their posts.

I hear some people who are Dems don't like Obama because there was a war in the primary that never ended even though on face value. It could be you didn't do anything, but someone doesn't like you cause of a name.

This is luv_mykatz. I am not a new poster nor new to DU.

I had to set up a new account. Every time I tried to reply to a thread, DU kept sending me to the log-in page. My old account was registered to an old email address that I do not have any more. I can't remember my old password, which got changed last year at about this time, and because of there is no way to update your email address with your account, I couldn't send myself a new temporary password. Bummer!!!!!

The only solution available to me was to set up a new account.

I don't post often, so my post count on my old account was in the 400's range.

If DU is acting strangely for me, maybe it is for some of you as well? Maybe no one really has you on ignore? Check out Mr. Scorpio's thread on this topic.

Wish me luck as I start out on the posting trail counts again.

including me. I had been computerless for months and months, probably a good thing, and I didn't even know what a 'Transparency page' was. I havent figured out how to see how many people are ignoring ME, so no rants about that today ; )

So apparently I'm not enough of a troublemaker to get to see how bad I am:

If all you do is agree with everyone, you will probably never be ignored (although, even that's no guarantee).

If you dare to disagree with SOME posters, esp regarding SOME topics, and especially is you post facts and links to facts, you will sooner or later be placed on ignore. That is inevitable.

Think of it as your war medal. Or your posting chops. It means you said something noteworthy.

Actually, lots of people (like pretty much everyone on DU) ignore me, i.e., don't respond when I post something, but I take that to mean that I'm innocuous to the point of invisibility.

Someone must have paid attention once enough to get pissed off, I guess, but it's a puzzlement.
