at first I thought I had really heard someone knocking at my door but, it was 4:00 in the morning.

Several nights later it happened again.

bizarre.

That is said to be a sign that someone you know just died. I get that one a lot.

One night I saw the grim reaper in my dream. I suddenly had the feeling, for some reason, that seeing the reaper was somehow related to a friend of mine. The next morning, before I left for work, my husband called and told me that the friend's brother (to whom friend was very close) had died very suddenly in the night. I felt like I was going to faint.

This kind of stuff happens to me and both of my brothers, a lot.

sometimes I have a dreamless night ( those arethe nights that I can't sleep at all )

but most nights that I sleep I have very vivid dreams -- night terrors even.

and I'm getting ready for work.

It's irritating to then get woken up and find out I gotta do all that crap over again.

I mean I usually don't mind taking a shower but twice? That's just too much.

At least I almost always get woken up BEFORE taking a crap.

I don't know if there is some reason for that.
If that is the case for you, perhaps the wind blowing on the door or something going on at the neighbors sounds like that.

I'll dream that someone is knocking at the door, or an alarm is going off, and I'll wake myself up trying to get out of bed to deal with it. Or I'll laugh so loud at something in a dream that I wake myself up. I also talk in my sleep.

I'm an amusing - if somewhat alarming - room-mate.

Wanna really freak someone out? Talk in your sleep in a foreign language. I used to be fluent in about 6 languages; not so much now. I still speak in foreign languages on occasion in my sleep, some are using phrases I pick up in documentaries I watch. I also wake myself up laughing/crying on ocassion.

Well, if you start hearing things when you're awake, talk to your doctor. I've never heard of that happening before.

This was when I was 13, and I was scared shitless. It woke me up. Took me about a half hour before I realized I could not possibly have heard a piano fall.

Eerie, though.

To you and the op. You hear knocking and wake up, not sure if you were dreaming or not. In my case, it was relentless pounding on the door. It was like 2 a.m., I FLEW down the staircase, and no one there. It never happened any other placce I lived. If incients like this persist, the op might need to consider moving. Or taking other steps to find out what the ghosts problem is.

I have heard my partner calling, though he wasn't home. The dogs barking, but they weren't. The cat crying, but he wasn't. Alarms. TV shows. Once, I thought I heard an orchestra.

Ever have a dream with sub-titles? I have.

Never had a dream with subtitles... some people are just more psychicallly sensitive than others. Sounds like you are! In my case, I dreamed I heard the knocking - tried to ignore it. It got louder and longer! Till I had to get up and go look! No small deal in that place - the house was huge!

I've heard plenty of conversations, songs, and sounds such as bells in my dreams. Most recently, I dreamt that David Cameron(!) and some of his friends were driving around my neighbourhood, dangerously, and well over the speed limit, and I was terrified that they'd run me over; and I could definitely hear them honking their horns!
