Oh, well, it's no secret how Shrub-level clueless I am, so the tsking may proceed: What little I've sampled of FALLON, I just don't find funny or interesting in the slightest. The music performances/references go over my head. His monologs just lie there. His commercials are jerky.
But LENO gone, GOOD!1 Although his wife is supposedly a good Lib.

Jimmy Fallon to Replace Jay Leno?
.... According to the New York Daily News, the latest rumblings regarding Leno are coming from talent agents who say they have been contacted by NBC brass looking for a new host to take over Fallon's 12:35 a.m. slot.
Leno's rep declined to comment, while reps for Fallon and NBC did not respond immediately to ABCNews.com's request for comment.
Fallon, who has been patiently warming up in the wings, would presumably move up to the coveted "Tonight Show" spot when Leno's contract expires in 2014.
The hitch, of course, would be if Leno did not go quietly. ....

(3,657 posts)but other than that, late night doesn't matter much to me.
I recall reading a few years ago that Leno's wife did support Democratic causes and was big on helping the women of Afghanistan.
I don't think Leno is a bad guy though. Just not my kind of funny. Jon Stewart and Colbert are my go to funny guys

(95,337 posts)To be honest I've never liked his show. And I really didn't like how he screwed over Conan O'Brien a few years back when Conan took over the tonight show and Leno created some lame show for the 10pm show that sucked badly. NBC should have thanked Leno, cut him a severance check and stuck with O'Brien for their Late Show. But NBC loss was TBS's gain!
TO be honest I am surprised at how well Fallon has done. I figured Fallon would last a few weeks and then fade into the sunset but he has done a good job. I think his musical skits have been a big plus to making his show a hip late night show. I hope they give the show to him.

(1,846 posts)Conan's contract was coming to an end and he was getting offers from other networks to host a new show. NBC, fearful of losing a decent ratings winner, offered him The Tonight Show, even though Leno's contract wasn't up and he was winning his time slot. Rather than cutting Leno a check and letting him go (he might go get a show on another network, after all), NBC created the pre-late show lame Leno hour and cancelled or moved all of their week night 10:00 PM shows (screwing over all those people too) to make room for it.
It failed miserably and NBC decided to move The Tonight Show to, if I remember correctly, either 12:05 or 12:35 and run Leno's show in it's place. Conan (who I've always really respected for this) said that The Tonight Show airs at 11:35 PM, it always had and it always should and he'd rather leave than have that change...and he did!
So I don't really blame Leno for NBC's treatment of Conan, though as far as I know he never refused any of NBC's programming offers either.

(13,661 posts)His "Whip My Hair" skit with Bruce Springsteen is just pure silly fun:
He's a pretty good mimic... and he's sort of screwball funny.
However, my heart belongs to Colbert. Stewart is wonderful, but I looove Colbert.
