That was in the 70s, though; the students looked quite a bit different.

There was a poster/'graphic' of the keyboard on the blackboard.
That was tough, but you sure as hell learned to 'touch type'.

(46,179 posts)that I stumble if I'm actually looking at the keyboard.
I think this is one of the reasons I've resisted adopting technologies like notebooks and phones that text and have internet access; I need the standard keyboard to type. Tiny little buttons I try to use my thumbs or fingers on just frustrates me.

(32,822 posts)...was mandatory. I had been typing since grade 5 and had worked up a fairly good speed. End of the first class we were given some exercises to do, I think one of them was typing the alphabet. Everybody else was going peck.....peck.....peck and I was sounding like a machine gun. They made me finish the course so I could learn all about envelop sizes and stuff.
