I'm familiar with the yard-grade DE...the version that kills little critters.

It's already in our food.

We do eat it! It's in lots of grain based foods because lots of grains are stored with diatomaceous earth to keep the bugs from eating the grain!

It is the food-yard grade used to store with grains. It's use with grains is restricted. It is the POOL grade that is not used in the yard or around food.

Also, people should be aware, the DE when used in the yard is harmful to BEES. As we all know, honeybees have been dying off in alarming numbers. Last thing we need is to harm them any more. I've read not to use chemicals or DE while honeybees are in their honey making season, but I don't know when that is.

Plus it just breaks down. Get a pump blower for it and if you have much wind, wear a mask when you use it.

To keep fleas at bay. Also we mix 1 tsp. in with each of our cats and dog for parasites. One of the cats had tapeworms, so we gave all of them diatomaceous earth for 2 weeks. Worms gone. You do have to be careful not to breath it in.

a garden, it keeps out a lot of bad bugs. Grasshoppers in particular can't stand it because it clogs their spiracles and they suffocate.
