My Hubs was just let go from his job of 16 years. he averaged 65 hours a week with a mediocre salary. But it was a job with benefits. Worked yesterday (new years day) doing inventory, went in today to get a pink slip.
He's is the restaurant business, in a local Country Club. The club was acquired by the Arnold Palmer Management Group about a year ago. They've done a bang up job so far, the club has no chef, no sous chef, no accounting dept, promoted the golf pro to club manager and now has no food & beverage manager. Just another example of a large corporation taking a small, successful company to its knees to try to increase the profit.
Here's to hoping he'll find something better soon. (or even comparable?)

Some day these corporations are going to realize they've made the US worker so poor ...we no longer have the money to buy their goods.
