Some are pretty funny.

I used to particularly like the T-Shirt with the one about tripping someone else when zombies come.

They're not so exciting--they're just all for Christian Mingles and Bible Study and stuff like that.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Just seems too appropriate to the theme of this thread not to post this:

Wanna hear a story? I won't go into gory detail. The woman who could have been the love of my life, we were extremely compatible, had everything in common, just kind of got each other, was 22 years older than I am. This was a long time ago, like 20 years.

I had the opportunity, but declined. She was just a, shall we say, little bit married. I declined her invitation to accompany her into a hotel.

A big part of me has kicked myself ever since, but I know I did the right thing.

Damn, she was hot, though. Really took care of herself.

The worst part, her marriage was terrible, the guy a real creep. Makes me sad to think about it.

Back when Facebook started putting ads on it's site (yes there was a time before that, and even a time before it was open to the general public), I continuously got ads for two things... what amounted to foot-fetish websites and HIV testing/treatment.

I attribute this to the fact that my profile labelled me as gay and single at the time.

Borderline offensive to think that just because I'm gay I need fetish websites and HIV info, but I digress. Ad services use keywords based on things like what you've searched online, what websites you visit, etc. and build you a profile essentially and tailor the ads to that profile. Sometimes they aren't entirely accurate. For instance, now I get Facebook ads for gay dating/hookup websites. While that's slightly better, it's still very presumptuous of them.

20. In regards to ads on DU

I believe it was discussed a while back. If I remember correctly, there are a quantity of ads bundled together and that they work differently than they would on say Facebook. On DU they are personalized only in so far as the site itself, not individual users. Topics that are "political" in nature would naturally show up on the site. On, say Facebook, they are tailored against your profile. I believe that's what I remember reading at any rate.

... But the "older women looking for you" ad with the smiley blonde chick who looks like she's topless with tan lines ( and boobs at her belly button if the pic is accurate) irritates the crap out of me!

I happen to be female so last time I checked, I wasn't an "older man" looking for a hot older woman.
