There were once upon a time specific guidelines.
These days, I think it's acceptable to post, for example, a news story about a medical breakthrough in Iowa in: LBN, the Iowa group, GD, and the Lounge!
Enforcement is spotty and the rules about cross-posting aren't well defined as far as I know.
I wouldn't worry if I was you if you're talking about posting the same story to two or three related sub boards.
NB: Please mention in the body of each post that you've cross posted in whichever other forums you've posted in.
