Got a few good shows out there right now and some really good ones coming soon. This is what we are watching in our house.
Arrow-DC hero type show, pretty dark and wasn't expecting to like it as much as I do.
The Joe Schmoe Show - This show is hilarious! It's a reality show, but with a twist. Everyone one the show are actors except for one guy. He thinks he is competing for $100,000 and a job as a bounty hunter. If you haven't seen it I definitely recommend it.
Workaholics- 3 stoner buddies. Funny stuff.
Archer - cartoon on FX over the top secret agent. Very funny show.
Really waiting for a few shows next month. Psych, Walking Dead, He'll on Wheels and the real Top Gear, the American version is ok but doesn't hold a candle to the original.

(21,925 posts)I have Dish Network's "America's Everything Package" but unfortunately the movie channels like the several HBO channels and their subsidiaries the Cinemax channels, the several Showtime channels and their TMC subsidiary channels, the Starz channels and their Encore channels, along with quite a few others keep playing the same old tired chestnuts. Right now it's movies like Sister Act, Titanic, The Enforcer, Gremlins, or the umpteenth running of LOTR and similar old fare that I have to choose from. The selection gets worse with each passing year although I'm paying a lot for these worthless movie channels. It seems that the new movies have now gone to the new EPIX channels but you have to pay even more for that and I'm tired of constantly paying more for less. I guess whereas I used to have "America's Everything", that keeps changing as they devise new ways to squeeze money out of people. I hate reality shows or network TV so I'm watching more old movies on youtube or Hulu now.

(1,975 posts)Pretty basic package, basic cable plus the HD channels. We do get FLIX, Retro, and encore. Those are good for some older movies, just saw Gymkata & Condorman for the 1st time in probably 30 years. I have up on the pay channels like HBO, and skinamax after Sopranos was done. Only show I miss is Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Id like to get a satellite package but I see to many times the "dish network is dropping AMC" commercial, and I can't miss my Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels, & Breaking Bad to chance it.

(54,256 posts)I used to watch them at hotels when I was flying.
Same old shit, over and over.
I bought the lower Dish package with no 'name' movie channels and still get AMC, TCM, FX, Sundance, and some others.
That's plenty.

I find the concept of the short season they use just right to my taste.
And of course Downton Abbey.

A relative who's a cop tells me that jurors who have watched CSI expect forensic miracles in every case and tend to acquit defendants if such evidence is not forthcoming.

(2,682 posts)on FX -- The Americans. It's set in 1981. It's about two KGB agents who pretend to be married and live in the DC area. The female lead is a real bad-ass. Lots of swearing, violence, sex, you know -- American TV standard fare. And Downton Abbey. How's that for contrast?
Separation
(1,975 posts)I think it's gonna be a pretty good show. I used to think Battlestar Galactica used to push the limits on what they could get away with (yeah I'm a scifi nerd) but I think show is gonna push those limits even further. Five minutes into it the female agent was giving a guy a mouth hug.

Pretty good show.

(1,975 posts)I kinda wished I would have just started watching it now as well. Could have watched all the episodes on a cruddy weekend and finished the shows series when it comes back on. Btw the mom from Malcolm in the Middle will be making an appearance from what I have heard when it starts back up.

(59,305 posts)I've been getting into Elementary, watched an episode a few weeks back because Vinnie Jones was guest starring, and its slightly more interesting than I thought. I also watch The Big Bang Theory, and am starting to put some time into the Nerd Show contest thingy on TBS(watched my first episode of that last night). I'm also watching the new Ultimate Fighter, I hope Chael's team wins, been a Chael fan for a long time.
