When the ground is frozen and covered with snow. They really gots nowheres else to go, poor things.
The North wind doth blow and we shall have snow,
And what will poor robin do then, poor thing?
He'll sit in a barn and keep himself warm
and hide his head under his wing, poor thing.

(12,272 posts)I am in the NW, and my feeder is full.
I want to get some suet, but the markets nearby only have the Morningstar Scotts brand and I won't purchase anything from them after they poisoned their bird seed.

(18,495 posts)And 2 or 3 crows out back by the compost heap at the edge of the woods, where I left them some puppy kibble. (They already pore through the compost heap daily, so I knew they'd find it there.) http://www.crows.net/food.html
They all really must be hungry to get out in the middle of this mess for something to eat!

(1,388 posts)I sometimes think the birds eat better at my house than I do. I have about 20-25 feeders depending on the time of year. And since putting out 4 heated bird baths, I get even more birds. I firmly believe that when birds see others they come to check it out. I even enjoy the bird hawks feeding at the bird feeders.
