Creeper misogynists in MMORPG's

*edit* ok....maybe misogynist is a bit too strong of a words for these idjits....maybe...*

I have 10 characters (toons) on a MMORPG that I play.
Out of those 10, one is female.
Was talking with a fellow guildie last night as I was playing that toon, and he asked if I ever got creepy comments from other players when running a female character.
And not having played that toon very often, I replied no.
He said he gets some extremely lewd and creepy messages from some of the players, all the time.

Never even thought that sort of thing was so prevalent in a video game.

Kinda gave me new insight as to what women must go through everyday in the real world.

That has GOT to be aggravating and a bit terrifying.

But the meaning gets through quite clearly.
And if I get some really creepy message, I'm reporting that person.

on your part.
Tell me, what brought you to this conclusion about me?

Because I play video games?

**edit**

Wait...I think I originally misunderstood what you're getting at.

It is and it isn't.

Yes, it's in a virtual setting.
Maybe they're only saying such things in-game because they are too timid to attempt to talk to a real woman at all much less like a creeper.
Maybe they're like that in real life as well.

It is just something that struck me as weird and wrong. And I don't like it in my game of choice.

You're just comparing your experiences with a game where it seems from your description that nobody is what they appear to be in the real world. I'm not sure that's a fair comparison so I'm asking how you are getting there from here. I have no idea how this game works in which you speak nor do I care to make any assumptions about it or you.

Role Playing Game

The entire point is to not be who you are in real life.

It's D&D, which I was just bragging about on here the other day for being full of mature people.
Not jerks.
Apparently there is a large community of them now in this game.

I just have to wonder how many of those are too afraid to exhibit that behavior outside that world.

...all my chars are female. I could count the 'creepy' comments on one hand, and they weren't even 'creepy'. Just typical teenage boy stuff.

Oh, and when I say 'all my chars' we're talking over 30 of them.

As a woman, I can say that being in a bar with adult men is much creepier than playing online games.

Cute story: My current guild is run by women (I had no idea when I joined. Just a happy coincidence.) We FAR outnumber the boys and they're the ones constantly asking for help. Of course, us ladies have to give them continuous shit. One of the guys always posts something like, "Real girls don't play WOW!!! Um...help plz now. >.< "

would be much creepier than an online tavern.

The guild I'm in is run by a woman.
She's the only one in our guild (we have only eleven members), but I know that there are plenty of women that play DDO and WoW.

When I played WoW, the guild I was in also had a female leader and I think it had mostly women members as well.
That guild was awesome. They made my short time at WoW very very enjoyable.
Wrecklist I think was the name. The woman that started it was either a commenter on DailyKos, or a moderator or something...I forget.

If I wasn't so hooked on DDO, I'd probably go back to WoW now that I have a pc that can handle it.

The previous expansion damn near killed my computer. New computer and love the new expansion. I'm just too tired to play 'seriously' anymore.

that was too much for my little laptop.
But it was 6 gigs worth of expansion.
And I had just gotten my flying mount too.
