The very first official still from Skyfall, the twenty-third theatrical adventure of spy and sex-machine Bond, James Bond, has arrived online. As played by Daniel Craig, the iconic character created by Ian Fleming is a man of many talents, including, but certainly not limited to: shooting, running, jumping, punching, chasing people or objects, charming beautiful women, and, crucially, swimming.
The first Skyfall image features Craig hanging out poolside at the Four Seasons in London. And that's about it. A nicely-lit, good looking image, no doubt, but hardly one that promises big action or high stakes drama. Instead, the principal selling point here looks to be the in-shape Craig, whose nearly visible buttcrack provides plenty of drama, putting the viewer right on the edge of their seat.

(82,849 posts)I only recently figured out that Quantum of Solace is the sequel to Casino Royale (Okay, I'm a cheapskate and waited a hucka long time to see the new Bond for cheap; I was also a tad skeptical of Daniel Craig as Bond, but I have decided I like him). Is Skyfall supposed to continue the story? Will it be the conclusion of a trilogy or just the next installment?

(5,604 posts)I loved Casino Royale, but thought Quantum was totally flat by comparison.

Water rights in Bolivia? Not exactly a madman threatening to take over the world stuff (most Bond plots) or even a sinister group funding terrorism (Casino Royale). While I don't necessarily need to see the human threatened with extinction (Moonraker) I just hope there's a little more at stake this go around.
