(34,136 posts)The azaleas were blooming, the redbuds had started to open up, crape myrtles were putting out leaves, the grass was even coming up.
Then Monday morning we had a hard freeze. This time of year is hard on plants here - they keep getting faked out. Tuesday the daytime temperatures were in the upper 60s. Today the high was 58. I wish it would make up its mind what it's going to do!

(14,910 posts)We had a wildly early warm spell, everything started pushing out hard and fast.
Then we had a cold snap.
The poor magnolias, which have a short bloom period anyways; were done and over in a matter of 3 days...

(34,136 posts)Fortunately, this year the freeze was not hard enough to slow down the blooms. I thought it had, but when I was out and around yesterday, there are still plenty of things blooming wildly. Some are a little freeze burned, but most are doing fine.

(2,579 posts)at least out here on the west coast.
However, we did have a strong freeze, day before yesterday.
That is totally typical here.
The Weather Channel (I know, I know, they seem to be a bit prone to hyperbole), has a video up about what kind of temps can be expected in various parts of the country this spring. They seem to predict that the Pacific Northwest will have way colder temps than usual. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
Wishing a lovely spring, to all.

(2,173 posts)The daffodils are ready to bloom, crocus are sprouting, trees have buds, yeah, it's starting to feel like spring. It's still cold out, but nothing below 35. That's t-shirt weather.

Sick, sick, sick of it.
My deer pals are having a tough time navigating through the deepness.

(24,146 posts)and road work season is in full swing. however, we do have a storm coming our way and we could see a foot of snow over the weekend. the mountains are expected to get hit hard, something we desperately need.
spring will be here soon enough and, in three months, we will be pissing and moaning about how it's too hot.

(30,947 posts)Right behind spring comes summer, and I hate summer heat. I lived in South Florida for too long and now live in North Georgia. It is nice to be somewhere there are seasons and not year-round summer.
