given the fact that they will be, once more, the late comers to the smartwatch market.

But I expect them to market the hell out of it and claim patents on innovation and bogus design even though they will be, yet again, building their product after others have already innovated and invented in the field.

Here is a Chinese one from 2008.

A watch, seriously? I have a lousy track record when it comes to predicting success or failure for these kinds of things, but really, a watch?

Who needs one when you have a smartphone with you at all times? And if it's going to be a type of tiny smartphone you wear on your wrist, no thanks!

I could just glance at my wrist to see who has been calling or messaging me, stock quotes, sports scores, weather, etc. It would be great for meetings and other situations when it would be awkward to keep pulling out my phone to check things.

I can't see it as a standalone device. You'd probably have to use a toothpick to respond to a message otherwise.

16. I don't think it's intended as a standalone (if it's even a *thing* at all).

My understanding is that most of the functionality would be via bluetooth connection with an iphone. Of course, without your phone in your pocket, it would still be good for telling you the time. (And probably health monitoring, etc.)
