We had a severe winter fish kill due to the lake being frozen over with a blanket of snow for so long. The sun could not get through to create the oxygen needed for the fish to survive. Thankfully most are carp. There are a few bass, but not many. We have pulled over 100 from our part of the lake since the thaw, which was about 3 weeks ago.
When I first saw the dead fish I thought the Community Association had poisoned the lake to kill the carp, so I called about it. They assured me it was not them, but mother nature.
I was working down by the lake today at the bird feeding area and the smell made me think I was at the ocean. I hope they will stop floating up before too much longer. They are getting rather ripe.

This was in the paper a few days after I saw my first kill.
