I just watched the neighborhood jackass allow his dog defecate on the street in front of my driveway and kept walking...

Do I grab a shovel and return it or allow it to peaceably pass?

2. If this were a single instance I'd let it pass...

However this is an ongoing occurance in the neighborhood with this man and his dogs.

I don't blame the dogs, they cannot help it...

However this guy attempts to exert dominance over his neighbors who generally tolerate his nonsense to keep the peace, so to speak.

So I'm inclined to stand up to this.

3. Depending upon just how much you want to stand up to this guy...

you could always purchase a sack of horse, cow, donkey or sheep manure...then dump it anywhere you deem appropriate!

However, it sounds like this guy is dumber than his dog's droppings and may be unteachable.

4. Is there a town ordnance regarding dogs.

I'm not suggesting that you call the dog warden but you have the right to walk on your lawn without looking for land-mines.

I wouldn't want a child to be playing on ground with feces if it can be avoided.

If your request goes unheeded ... return the poo to his driveway without trespassing. Also take photos of the dog in the act if he takes you into court.

5. Return it to his front door with a note on it

asking him to stop. I did that with a neighbor that continually let his dog crap on my sidewalk.

He doesn't do it anymore.

14. I'd put it in a paper bag

put some newspaper on top of it. Light the newspaper, ring his doorbell & quickly walk away.

or, if you don't like that type of vengeful confrontation...

If your city has an Animal Control Office... call them, they will issue a citation that likely includes a fine for bio-hazard disposal. Or call you police departments non-emergency number for other direction. What this guy did was illegal and I am certain that it falls under several local ordinances.

Some of my neighbors walk their dog off leash and let them run through everyone's yards, really annoying, but I've never seen one watch their dog poop and walk right by, especially not in the street! damn.

You shoulda gone out there with a bag and just said with a smile, "whatta time not to have brought a bag with you, here ya go." as if of course! he's gonna clean that up.

Treat him like a responsible dog owner, shame into acting like one.

11. Bad dog owners

Yep - I had this happening in the commons area behind my house. I wanted it to stop, but didn't want a confrontation.

I got my camera out and made a big deal of snapping pics of the irresponsible dog owner and his dog leaving land mines.

I wasn't taking actual photos, but it must have worked. Never see them anymore.

13. Had this happen to me once

I very nicely flagged him down about halfway down the block and handed him a baggie and a bag. Told him I saw he didn't have one and wanted to help. He actually walked back and scooped it.

We have a house in our neighborhood that has trained their dog to go across the street in the park.
