OK, SO...
...my client went to Vegas last weekend with her boyfriend and they both came back with food poisoning. The regularly scheduled Tuesday photo shoot, as a result, was canceled.
THIS WEEK, the "2 girl photo shoot" I'd mentioned in a prior post looks like it is going to happen on Tuesday. What this means to the average person on the street is that if you book an appointment with my client, her friend is included, and her friend is one of the major stars in this particular universe.
As our friends at FreeRepublic would say, "this is hugh." Followers of this particular brothel are not going to be prepared for this.
I am absolutely going to pull out all of the stops for this shoot. I learned photography in my dad's darkroom starting at a very, very early age. Like most adolescent males I discovered Playboy, but I really internalized the mechanics of why I thought the classic photos were at the top of all glamour photography. I personally think the magazine went to shit right around 2000. The 50s to the early 70s were the classic days. From the early 70s to the late 70s, they tried too hard to be Penthouse (TOO MANY DAMNED "soft focus" shots). They had a renaissance in the 80s, and for the next two decades, it was hit or miss, but they were still Playboy.
So my style is that I absolutely emulate the "glory days" of Playboy photographers like Pompeo Posar and Mario Casilli. So far I have posted two photoshoots in four separate posts and have also posted six 1600x1200 wallpaper sized versions of the best shots. Feedback has been major, my client's image has been totally reshaped in a matter of 3 weeks.
I'll let you know how Tuesday goes. What's new with you?

And now (choke), I see this. You are living the dream. I am not worthy to be in your (virtual) presence.

Sorry...
But you're right, it is living a dream. I know on one hand it's beautiful nude women, that's not lost on me at all. But there was an art and craft to the Playboy photos...especially in the 50s and 60s...that lifted them above any other similar photography. Producing results that elicit similar responses in the modern era is extremely gratifying.

(12,008 posts)I thought about getting takeout for dinner, but realized that cooking was less stressful than trying to speak German, so I made dinner, but now I realize I have nothing for tomorrow.
Pretty exciting, huh?

(12,008 posts)Really, it was today or resigning myself to wearing dirty clothes for awhile. Sharing a washing machine with several people is the pants; I'd forgotten how much it sucks.

It's beautiful country. One of the prettiest women I ever met back then was a smart strong teenager who could buck haybales with any of the guys
If I had a camera around there I wouldn't be inside a brothel snapping shots: I'd shoot the hills and the wildlife and the local ranchfolk
But I guess I've never had much business instinct
