I think some drunk got lucky last night.

Had a call from DPS that we had some cattle out on the Interstate this morning. When I got to where they were the officer was sitting in his vehicle waiting. I put the animals back through the fence (not sure why he didn't do it) and we looked the scene over. It looked like somebody crossed the median and ran across the eastbound lanes, got slightly airborne, bottomed out and then straddled over a 4 foot yucca and then ran through the fence. Probably flipped a U-ey (never tried to spell that before!) and went back through the fence, up onto the pavement and on his way.

There were no incident reports from DPS or Border Patrol, so it would seem to be some individual losing control and getting freaking lucky.

Must have happened late last night or early this morning because my cows will find a hole in the fence pretty fast.

Yee haw.

A couple of weeks ago somebody on a neighboring property (a ranch with 30 acre ranchettes in the center of it) called to ask where out mutual boundaries were as BP had chased a truck across the rail road tracks and taken out some fence. It was not any that we shared (I will never understand folks who don't know where their property boundaries are) but I took a few pix.

This section is along a county road - that stone wall is the developement's western entry gate. The wooden poles on the ground were originally right at the end of that stone wall AND there was a 1/2 inch cable at the top of the 5 wire range fence. all the wires and cable were yanked off those T posts and twanged all over the place. OOPS

Somehow I always think of the countryside being peaceful. Not always!

Nice pics.

How can some folks be so casual about their boundaries?

but where we intersect with the world (like on major roads, or utility corridors) ... meh - sometimes that gets exiting.

I have baby calves on my to-do list for you. Hope to get some more shots before they grow up!
here are two blurry ones I took too late in the evening (too dark/far away)

I think the little bit of fuzzy adds to their charm, actually!

Thanks for sharing them...

You say blurry and too far away, but the effect is quite artistic, like a painting. And of course, those babies are sooo cute! Is that little white guy going to stay all white? Are you going to have Hindu pilgrimages coming to your ranch?

You know, it may not be healthy to hide your feelings like that. You must feel like you're on the horns of a dilemma.

That's what I think when I drive into town on Saturday mornings and see several cars still parked in front of Dillon's bar.
