(11,254 posts)I wonder if it was the motivation for the movie, "Hostel" which took place in Slovakia where rich people would pay to torture in the most gruesome if ways backpackers that would get kidnapped from the hostel in town.

(950 posts)legend is indeed one of the inspirations for "Hostel", along with sundry urban legends and folktales.
It's debatable as to how many Countess Bathory actually killed - estimates range from slightly under 100 to over 600. Personally, I'm not quite sold on the "bathing in the blood of virgins" thing. From what I've read, she strikes me more as a sadist who most likely received some form of sexual gratification out of killing people - somewhat along the lines of Gilles de Rais.
At the very least, she was most certainly a serial killer.

"Many people doesnt know, and didnt even heard about these famous abandoned places."

(10,893 posts)I didn't even notice that until you pointed that out. I'm assuming that it was done by a non-native English speaker because pretty much nobody writes like that who is fluent in English, not even people who are illiterate.
