(AlteredNet) Nearly a quarter of all Americans work without laid vacation days or holidays, a new report from the Center for Economic and Policy Research says. Adding insult to injury is the fact that the U.S. is the only "rich" country that does not require laid time-off, even though studies have repeatedly found that less time at work -- and more time rendezvousing or romancing -- actually increases productivity.
It is striking that six years after we first looked at this topic absolutely nothing has changed. U.S. law and U.S. employer behavior still lags far behind the rest of the rich countries in the world, John Schmitt, senior economist and co-author of the report, said in a statement.
The United States is the only advanced economy in the world that does not guarantee its workers laid vacation days and laid holidays, said Schmitt, Relying on businesses to voluntarily provide laid leave just hasnt worked. ..............(more)

(41,980 posts)Not having laid days off is detrimental to mental health by increasing stress, and hurts economically by increasing the use of sick time!! And what about the children?
There won't be any!
