The vows
Just after the vows
Several waltzes (and mimosae) later, in shirtsleeves (it was too hot to keep that morning suit on, I'm afraid)
Eating brunch (we may be the only couple that actually got to eat at our wedding) pro-tip: seat yourselves at a table with just you two
And, the first dance, to a waltz by a little-known American composer (more down in the comments)
Next to last edit: Recursion in morning dress in the elevator:
One last edit, the kiss!

(22,063 posts)I wish the two of you all the happiness in the world.
P.S. Can your bride throw me her bouquet?
Recursion
(56,582 posts)We didn't have a wedding party, and throwing stuff in a boat seemed unwise...

P. S. That is one of the most beautiful cakes I have ever seen. If I was there with a big jug of milk there wouldn't be any to take home.

(12,904 posts)That is a beautiful cake, for a beautiful couple.
Your comment reminded me of a funny story...my daughter made a beautiful wedding cake for a couple a few years ago. It was a delicious almond and honey cake, and was decorated in the style of Van Gogh's Starry Nights. The morning after the wedding, the bride's mother called my daughter, and asked her where the leftover cake was. Daughter said...I don't know, the cake was still there when I left, and some ladies were packing up the leftovers.
Apparently, the ladies were the bride's aunts from Oklahoma, and they took the cake home with them! All of it!
Best Wishes and Congratulations to the Bride and Groom!

My husband and I both thought our ceremony was fun - we didn't expect to think so. We thought the fun would be the reception afterward, which paled in comparison.
Congratulations to you both!

(26,669 posts)And that's a useful pro-tip; my wife and I always get a little private amusement at weddings by watching to see if the bride and groom actually get to enjoy any of the meal. We would have been blanked at our own, except that some good friends saw the dwindling buffet table and swooped in to set aside a supply for us...
Recursion
(56,582 posts)For as much as the food cost us, we were definitely eating some.

(10,940 posts)How lovely! Salutations to both you and to Mrs. Recursion.
And it's not everyday that a bridal couple dances to a waltz composed by the Groom!
Many happy loving days to you both. Thanks so much for sharing!
Recursion
(56,582 posts)I didn't want to be that groom who just sat around looking stupid. And I did sit around looking stupid, but at least I had done something leading up to it. (Seriously, the boat people would ask me stuff, "Where do you want this stack of whatevers?" and I would say "Have you been to a wedding before? Are you actually asking the groom this?"

(56,582 posts)We wound up with one too few tables. As in, our contract said ten tables, and they had nine there the day of, and on a boat, not much chance of getting a new one. Fortunately, we had just enough no-shows that we could disperse the phantom tenth table to the other tables. So, in the end, it's just as well we didn't connect on that... I do appreciate your blessing though, very much. Take care!

(45,319 posts)The waltz is very nice, you should dust it off more frequently, the composing. You wife has a radiant smile and I love her veil/feather piece. Any ceremony is better on a boat.
