I can't watch "My Cat From Hell" anymore.

I had always hoped I could find the solution to getting my two girls (biological sisters) to get along. Their brother gets along with both just fine.

Saturday morning, all three cats were sleeping in different rooms. I turned on CFH just in time for the evil kitty on the TV to start SCREAMING. It took about 1.5 seconds for all three of my cats to show up in the living room, full fluff mode and ready for battle. I couldn't change the channel fast enough so the TV screaming continued and my kitties went into a panic. They then proceeded to stake out the entire house, guard the back door and look suspiciously at each other...for an hour. They were jumpy for the rest of the day.

They have reacted to dogs barking on the TV, but only out of curiosity. Never full blown freak out.

but the tv dog spoke in a foreign language.

That's my arm chair reasoning for why your cats reacted much more strongly to the tv cat than the tv dog.

They also don't feel threatened by dogs. A strange cat would be a territorial threat.

The TV cat would be an even larger threat because he's protected by that box. Kind of like the one in the mirror.
