Hands down best name I've ever found in genealogy research!

Unfortunately it's not one of my ancestors, but he's probably a distant cousin of some sort.

Preserved Fish. Born in Dartmouth, MA in 1731.

Not only is that his name, he has a son, grandson, nephews, great nephews, etc. with the same name.

His first name was properly pronounced with three syllables ("pre-SER-vedd&quot , and was a reference to being "preserved from sin" or "preserved in grace". His family, prominent in New York, also gave rise to Hamilton Fish, governor, senator, and secretary of state, and Stuyvesant Fish.

Makes it really confusing when I'm entering births unless the source also has who they married!

I've also had males and females named Patience and Aquilla. Usually I just guess the sex and hope for the best!

Brought on by one of the waves of religious fervor. The one that annoys me is the female name "Submit" - I hate that it was only used for women, unlike some of the others.
