(8,217 posts)You can cast any sort of hard body for Batman.
Then maybe eschew Bruce Wayne.
If they do need a Bruce Wayne though, I'd place:
20-30+: Matt Bomer / Tyler Hoechlin
30-40+: Wes Bentley / Joe Manganiello(I'd rather him be a much older Superman)
However, if I really get to choose. I'd pick Scott Adkins

He was in Expendables II. They tend to use him as a Bad Guy, and they used him as DeadPool for the fight sequences in Wolverine Origins.

This guy is PERFECT as Batman.
Although, I think I'll wait till I completely write off Ben as Bruce Wayne. Guy has performed pretty well lately, so I guess I'll wait and see.

He's got the height, the charm and wherewithal to act like a billionaire playboy convincingly.

(15,220 posts)I totally agree with you. It is the Bruce Wayne persona that has the intrigue, etc. and requires special acting skills. Somehow, I can't see Ben Affleck achieving the same success as Christian Bale, but I'll give him a shot.
Bucky
(54,013 posts)He kept his tortured soul on the surface. The art of Bruce Wayne is that he's a diletante, a social butterfly. Bale steered him away from those lighter, distracting layers. The voice was also silly, and he (or the director) omitted the Errol Flynnish aspects of the playboy image, which can also show up in a "hale fellow well met" approach to bad guys who aren't just straight up murderers.
I'm saying, I guess, Bale played him too dark. You gotta have that Bruce mask on the surface just to keep the character from becoming too emo. I think Affleck can round out the character that way. Bale was basically playing Bruce Wayne as Edgar Hoover. I'd like a Batman who gets a little action on the side when he's not pining over cat burglers or dead sidekicks.
