1. The idea of a bicycle army seems a little comical to we motorized Americans.

But a lot of transportation on the Western Front in WWII took place on bicycles.

And the Japanese conquered the Malay Peninsula on foot and on bicycles. The few undergunned, underpowered tanks they had were much less effective than a determined infantry army powered by bicycles. And they were fighting against British troops who possessed much more effective armored vehicles.
