She's still in the main cage. She has fed the chick a few times that I've witnessed. I placed a clear plastic veggie box opened like a tent over her to protect the nest. Her mate has entered the nest several times to feed her but she's chasing him away.

When she died suddenly this summer I moved her mate into the group cage.
So far none of the others are harassing the new mom.

Lovebirds and cockatiels are a little bigger but almost the same size as diamond doves.

I keep checking on them. [img][/img]

They sure are messy flinging seed in all directions.
I was surprised when I reached into the cage and was able to touch the new mom. There are usually two eggs so I was curious about how many had hatched.

I love the way they come over to be near me when I'm sitting in the room having a bite to eat. [img][/img]

The male is the one with the bright orange eye-rings.

That's a tomato package giving 'em a bit of shelter.

One huge cage full of doves is enough.
We had 3 cages at the old place. One for the breeding pair, one for the teenager babies (otherwise they killed the infants, sibling rivalry, still wanted to be fed by their parents) the biggest cage was for the older babies.
Wish us luck! I really don't have extra room for the old cages.

most of the doves are here.

Miss Frodo used to go almost everywhere with me.[IMG][/IMG]

We almost brought home a pocket sized parrot (a mini-macaw) before I got the doves.
