My first night in the cottage!!!

LONG day, began @ 8 a.m. driving to meet movers at husb's apartment, to move everything (except odds/ends) out, and get it all into storage or friends house or daughters house or COTTAGE! 'Ended' about 9 p.m. when movers left me at cottage! NOW I'll have to think about opening all the 'mystery' boxes, basically kitchen stuff. Where the heck are the glasses! (Fortunately had 3 mugs out, and found light bulbs, so not totally in the dark, but no coffee tomorrow morning!)

2/3 way through day's travels, having met movers at daughter's house, planning to lead them to cottage for last drop off, what happens??? NOTHING, when I tried to start my car!!! So I rode in the van with movers, picked up something for dinner for the 3 of us, and now I'm in my living room 'lounging,' and deciding how to deal with car tomorrow.

AAA will probably tow it to my mechanic, about 70 miles from daughter's house, as daughter and her guy have concluded its a 'starter' problem, not a simple dead battery, and as he's their mechanic and doesn't have the tools to deal with it, will have my guy do it. SO, I'll watch the sun rise over the river, and THINK about opening boxes! (and calling DirecTV, cause all I have is radio (fortunately it works!) and Y'all!!!

HOLY COWS, I can see a crescent+ moon outside the window, IN FRONT OF MY FACE!!!!

I'm sorry about the car, but this too shall pass!

And the crescent moon sounds amazing!

I hope the stair railing is in, and you'll have a great sleep...

Welcome home, sweetie!

Owner/landlord re-installed it, after we concluded 'full' bed couldn't make it upstairs. (Will contribute it somewhere, and get 2 twins for guests.)

Car issue certainly shall pass! NO big deal!!!

his property is adjacent to mine, or that's probably vice versa! He's got what I call the 'big house,' which he had moved near the cottage ? years ago, I think when the cottage became too small for his family of 5, including triplets! They're 16 now, and live during the week in DC. Will learn soon, I guess, how much time they actually spend here.

We're at the junction of the Patuxent River and Mears Creek, so might be a little peninsula. Not sure the size of his entire property, but there's a cornfield between our abodes and the paved road!

There appears to be a 'development' of some sort along the river, and on the paved road, but haven't explored it yet.

Definitely away from 'urban life,' but I'll have to get back to the closer-in suburbs fairly often, for social reasons (and to pick up my car! Have a great mechanic, and want to keep my '93 Toyo Wagon running, a great car and a gift from my Dad.)

The grocery store, Starbucks, and a few restaurants etc. are about 5 minutes away, and DC about 60 miles.

Feared it could be the alternator--but turned out to just be dead battery.
You may want to have AAA try to start it for you first since getting
a new battery might be closer than towing it 70 miles! I did need a
new battery--mine was original to car now 7 years old.

they've already picked it up from daughter's house. I didn't ask, but they usually DO try to start it first, so I assume they did so and agreed, needs mechanic's attention.

Sun rising over the creek!!!

COULD use coffee now! Will remedy the situation later. Picked up orange juice at grocery yesterday, so that will do, I guess, and a muffin!

Daughter brought acuppa an hour ago, so I'll survive, and tomorrow I'll head closer to 'civilization,' retrieve my repaired car, and pick up some things I need to make my OWN coffee, EVERY DAY!!! (Pots + pans largely packed, have to find a kettle, etc etc etc. Been SO LONG since I've established a new home! A welcome challenge!)

but getting camera to allow me to post good pics, while on my list, may take a little longer!

Car repair in same category as renting cottage, more possible financially now than it was a few months ago so no real problem, but thanks for your concern.

My husband, from whom I'd been separated since '06, passed in May, and as Personal Representative, I have the obligation to deal with his estate. This includes closing his apartment and disposing of his stuff, much of which had been ours, from our home, as well as stuff belonging to our 2 daughters.
