The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI'm bored. What are y'all doing?
Me, I'm trying to read and critique some short stories as part of a writers' conference I'm going to in October, listening to some Hollywood gossip show on TV, watching Bunny the Cat freak the hell out over our son's cat Beau being here for a few days, trying not to think about how much I'd like a nibble or drink (I'm on a low carb diet) and obviously I'm dicking around on DU.
And for some reason I've been on an Annie Lennox fueled spree of FIERCE women singers. So now and then I click through to a Youtube video of some outstanding soulful woman and bop.
And Thou, Oh Lizards?

(68,644 posts)I'm partly self-employed and if I was a good supervisor I'd have to block myself from DU.
Might also have to issue a written verbal warning even!

I've been editing two poems today, in a workshop I'm taking... but now they have to rest while I absorb what I want to do to them.

CaliforniaPeggy
(149,704 posts)I forget the name of this week's theme, but what we have to do is write a poem about something we dislike, and then twist it around at the end to make it something we like.
Transformational? I forget!
Ooops.

... little chocolate donuts. When I got to the busy register, I couldn't find my
money and started emptying my pockets onto the counter. The clerk, at first
pissed, started laughing and the people behind me started laughing and I'm
thinking, "IT'S NOT THAT FUCKING FUNNY!!!".
.
When I finally found my cash, I started putting stuff back in my pockets and
finally saw the half-ounce baggie of weed on top of my donuts.
.
I picked it up and held it so that everyone could get a better look, laughing
and mumbling, "It WAS that fucking funny."

(10,952 posts)out for his morning walk. I have some chicken wings in the oven and will be heading to the Library soon. Saturday is my chore/errand day. Toby (13 yr old chihuahua/jack russell mix) doesn't like to stay outside by himself so I will probably to a little yard work this afternoon so he will have some happy outdoor time. The temperature here is nice today.
