(13,661 posts)best concert I've ever been to - he and his band were AMAZING.
Maya Angelou was there, too
Anyway - he is a fantastic storyteller, but when he and his band decide to turn it on, be prepared to be blown out of your seat.
BB and Ray Charles are still the two best shows I've ever been to.

(21,925 posts)while I was studying in Paris and he played the Salle Pleyel. I was a member of a rock band and I talked my way backstage with my friends. B.B. King was relaxing after the show and in a very good mood after receiving several standing ovations. We walked up to him and introduced ourselves and he let us hold "Lucille" and strum on it. He gave each of us autographs and one of his picks (I still have it in an envelope). Two of my friends were brothers (guitar and bass), French-speaking black guys from Djibouti, Africa and their young 18 year old sister was one of the most gorgeous women I'd ever seen in my life. You'd think B.B.King's eyes had popped out of his head when he saw her and asked me to translate to her in French just how fine he thought she was. B.B. King was really, really nice, a true gentleman and a very humble person. I met him briefly again the next year when I moved back to the U.S. and saw him in a music store in Oakland, CA.
