And I like it. You need a google account though. I don 't have experience with iPhone, so I can't really compare.
Andriod has tons of free apps, and of course the pay apps as well.
Most andriod phones tend to have bigger screens which is nice since I am getting older and need to see things better.

The knock off is a bland pretender.

Survey after survey prove that iPhones are easier to use, more reliable, and that Apple's customer service is unmatched.

If you are anywhere near an Apple Store, you have in person help, for free.

Apple has one operating system for iPhone. Google Android has dozens that are fragmented amongst hundreds of phone models. It makes a difference.

Also, something I've know for a long time was just confirmed:

Apple’s iPhone 5 touchscreen is 2.5 times faster than Android devices

Apple’s iPhone 5 is 2.5 times faster at responding to touches than Google Android devices, according to a benchmark test by game and app streaming firm Agawi.

The results confirm what users believe about the devices, and they highlight a feature that is usually left out of technical comparisons.

In its first TouchMarks benchmark test, the iPhone 5 responded to touches at an average time of 55 milliseconds, compared to 85 milliseconds for the iPhone 4. The closest Android device was the Samsung Galaxy S4 at 114 milliseconds.

“Apple trounced the competition,” said Peter Relan, chairman of Agawi. “There is this whole other dimension of responsiveness that Agawi cares about.”

This is one of the reasons Android phones seem sluggish, compared to iPhones.

If you go android you have a lot more options. If you don't need a data plan - just get a phone plan (minutes, unlimited voice/text whatever) and but an unlocked android phone. You'll have a phone and wi-fi for really cheap.

Well, until iOS7, which I swear someone at Apple had to have dropped LSD when they were designing, but otherwise..

I've had a couple from Metro PCS which has a number of choices. I won't pay hundreds of $$$ for a phone no matter how great it may be.

I will be the first person to admit that I am not an Apple fangirl. I have an iPod classic and that's the only Apple product I own. I borrowed a Macbook for awhile and was not impressed with it.

My reason for Android

1) It's more customizable. I can't read things as a grid, and I like how Android lets you switch to a list (Apple does not). Android does not have a my way or the highway mentality. I can customize what my phone looks like, how the apps are viewed, etc and it's by my standards, not a company's standards.

2) Universal charger. My Android charger works with my Kindle Fire so I don't need to pack two separate chargers when I go on the road. It also takes the same charger as my old Blackberry, so I have a backup if needed. Most cell phones have the same charger, but somehow Apple was special and got out of that rule. Chances are you can use your flip phone charger with an Android (I work on campaigns and our campaign cell phone chargers work with my Android).

3) It synchs well with Google applications (which I use for work) including gmail, and the calendar (which is my lifeline at work). (Not sure if this is available on iphones or not)

3) I have friends and family with iPhones and if that makes them happy, great. I've used them before and they're nothing to write home about.
