Who else does what I do at fast food places?

I don't eat fast food very often, but when I do I order the same thing I ordered when I was a kid in the 60s. Basic burger and fries at McDonalds, simple taco at Taco Bell, etc. I never order any of the newer more expensive items on the menu. I guess it just reminds me of simpler better times in my childhood. The fast food experience for me is all about nostalgia.

When I am driving and need a rest room, I always look for a large franchise food place. The rest rooms are usually clean and they never say for customers only. I have never been turned down use of a rest room at a national food franchise.

I always thought that the main way In n Out maintains consistency and quality is by keeping the menu simple.

lettuce and tomato. The beef patty is actually smaller than I like and unremarkable. The buns are always fresh, too. They are privately owned, not franchised and produce all their own products and supply all their restaurants. This business model also allows them to pay 10.50 an hour as a starting wage, because there's no franchise fee and no stockholders to answer to.

There IS no competing with In-N-Out Burger, especially not by McDonalds. McDonalds can't hold In-N-Out's underwear.

Pffft!

However the absolute greatest burger in the world, without question, is Kirk's Steakburger from the South Bay Area, CA.

They use pure sirloin beef. From the bay area. With fresh veggies and real cheddar.

BBQ'd over charcoal.

Spendy, but one will fill you for about 5 hours.

Like I said, I don't do it very often, and then it's more for nostalgia than nutrition. I don't even live near any of them any more.

Taco Hell, Pizza Slut, Burger Kill, Dominoid, Wend-it-died, and other sucky places serve nothing at all that I would consider edible. I'm a vegetarian now, but even if I wasn't I wouldn't eat that shit. Gross, gross, gross, and gross. Did I mention gross?

If you crave a burger, go to a local diner. Then you can at least be assured that it is actual meat.

is a family owned pizza joint less than one mile from my house. Best pizza I've ever had, all fresh ingredients. Reasonably priced, too.

They also have other items on their menu, a good burger being one of them.

From local diners. Ever watch Restaurant Impossible? Those are all mom & pop diners, and eight times out of ten their kitchens are FILTHY. At least the chains have cleanliness standards to adhere to.

But it's usually the chicken nuggets. I'm very picky about my burgers (I don't like anything on them except for cheese ) and it's often easier to order something else than to try to explain a special order.

99% of the time I go into a fast food place it's for a bathroom or internet (I know that if I need wifi, McD's has it--- very helpful when you're on the road). I order at McD's only if I'm using the internet there because I feel bad for using their service without being a customer.

stopped at Wendy's today. Haven't been to one in over a year. Mom ordered the Bacon/cheeseburger on their pretzel roll (new item) the combo I ordered Chile and a baked potato, the tab was $13. Took the food to the table, gave mom her pretzel roll burger and it was stone cold. I went to the counter asked for one that was hot. I waited they give me a new sandwich and that one was lukewarm/tepid.

I asked for the manager told him the problem, said we wanted the money back for the sandwich & we would pay for everything else. The manager however returned $10 to us and asked that when we stop in again (I don't think that will happen) to tell the counter person that he the manager would comp us two meals.

I'm not sure that we will hit a fast food restaurant again, or at least for another year.
